Cup Characteristics: La Esperanza welcomes itself nicely in the cup with a sparkling key lime acidity. Hints of fruit punch and lemon persist throughout this coffee, before fading into a refreshing coconut finish.
Finca La Esperanza has been growing amazing coffees since 1956 when Heleodoro de Jesús Villatoro López founded the farm. The farm has since been passed through three generations and is currently under the care of his grandchildren.
The Villatoro family is renowned for their meticulous attention to detail. From the biggest detail: choosing to start their farm in La Libertad, Huehuetenagno, an environment with the perfect balance of hot days and cool nights, two massive mountains to provide a mix of altitude, and cliff faces that are greeted with the morning sun, and a heavy dose of rain during the wet season, providing the hardworking land a refresh just after harvest. To the smaller details like continuing to ferment in water and maintaining a steady and quick processing schedule even during the busiest times of harvest.
On the gorgeous slopes of La Esperanza numerous cultivars grow and thrive. From Caturra and Pacamara to Heirloom Bourbon. This lot is comprised exclusively of Bourbon. The climate of the farm as well as the altitude make for a perfect growing environment for Bourbon's classic stone fruit characteristics to blossom.
